The original White Rose Resistance Group (Die Weiße Rose) was founded by a group of students in Germany in 1942. They wrote and distributed leaflets calling for opposition to Nazi dictatorship. Today, the White Rose is one of the best-known German resistance groups opposed to fascism. In times of Nazi terror, they were driven by humanistic motives and appealed to the responsibility of every individual for freedom and justice.

The White Rose Contingent was created in response to the reelection of an openly fascistic authoritarian and his plan to reshape America, destroy democracy, and create a permanent one-party rule.
